Wirksworth Swimming Pool

Lynne donated a series of mural panels to enhance the main swimming area at Wirksworth Swimming Pool.

Volunteers of all ages gathered at Wirksworth Swimming Pool early on Sunday morning 2nd September 2012 to give the facility a deep clean. The day was organised as part of filming by television production company Betty, for a new series to air on Channel 4 in early 2013 about obsessive compulsive cleaners.

Every inch of Wirksworth Swimming Pool was given attention: from cleaning bathrooms to pressure washing floors and litter picking around the building. A lockable buggy shelter was also donated, as part of the filming, and a kind group of local trades people gave up time and worked tirelessly to excavate the foundations and erect the shelter.

Lynne donated a series of mural panels to enhance the main swimming area to brighten the area up. Lynne said, ‘ My idea for the work was inspired by Hockney and the play of light across the building when the sun shines on the water. I wanted the images to be clear enough to be seen even if you were swimming under the water. I really enjoyed working on this project and was glad to help the pool out.’
