East Midlands Art Event for the Gifted and Talented

East Midlands Art Event for the Gifted and Talented

Lynne runs a successful event for the gifted and talented students of the East Midlands

Lynne ran a successful event for the gifted and talented students of the East Midlands on June 7th 2008. She worked specifically with a core group of participants aged 14 years. The day was organised by Derby City Council. The day was challenging and intensive, focusing on the portrait using advanced teaching and learning methods. Students were encouraged and guided to sketch directly with paint (not pencil) and this technique helped them to view art with a new way of seeing, allowing them to grow in creative confidence and self-esteem. The morning was spent looking at the work of Lucian Freud and then students sketched focusing on foundation drawing and facial dimensions. The afternoon was spent working directly on canvas on a coloured-ground and creating a self-portrait from first-hand observation. At the end of the session time was made for group reflection, evaluation and celebration. The group of students worked extremely hard throughout the day and the results were brilliant!

Lynne Celebrates the Launch of Museum of Childhood

Lynne Celebrates the Launch of Museum of Childhood

Lynne Celebrates the Results of her Consultancy with The National Trust.

Lynne joined invited guests at the official launch of the new re-furbished Museum of Childhood on Tuesday 3 June 2008. The Opening ceremony was performed by Gethin Jones from BBC’s ‘Blue Peter’.

The National Trust’s Museum of Childhood, at Sudbury Hall in Derbyshire, has re-opened after a massive £2.2 million transformation. The museum is now bigger and more spectacular than ever, the museum provides children and adults with the chance to compare and discover childhood experiences from the 19th century to the present day. Lynne was delighted to lead the consultancy in 2007 with various groups across the age ranges to design the display for the ceiling of the Home Gallery, this new display incorporates 'slices' of three bedrooms from different eras, suspended from the ceiling. Lynne and the Museum are delighted with the results. The museum has increased in size by 50% and been transformed into eight new galleries whose themes include outdoor adventure, work, home, school, babies, toys, stories and imagination. The new galleries include interactives for people of all ages. For more information contact: 01283 585305 (Infoline) 01283 585337 Fax: 01283 585139 Email:
